Mastering Public Communication and Effective Presentations

This course is designed to provide participants with essential verbal and written communication techniques to communicate confidently and deliver impactful presentations in the workplace.

Participants will be provided with helpful tools and strategies and immediately apply them through interactive group discussions, activities, case studies, and peer feedback. Key topics in verbal and presentation skills include engaging with diverse audience(s), storytelling, overcoming nervousness and anxiety, persuasion and influence, body language, listening skills, presentation tools (PowerPoint), and practical preparation methods for public speaking scenarios including meetings, presentations, and networking, both in person and online. Key topics in written communication include clarity, simple language, inclusive language, structure and organization, tone, and audience customization for common business documents such as emails, memos, and social media content.

    Bilingual, relationship-driven communications specialist, creative learning & development professional, agile facilitator, dynamic moderator, and engaged course instructor with a diverse background spanning higher education as well as the non-profit and private sectors. Passionate about designing, developing, and delivering impactful training that supports individuals throughout their learning journeys, enabling them to exceed their objectives and expectations.

    Committed to fostering an authentic, inclusive teaching approach that cultivates open, energetic, and inspiring environments, where learners challenge themselves and each other to succeed. Devoted to empowering students at all levels, as well as professionals in various stages of their careers to find their voice and use it with poise, purpose, confidence, and conviction. Teaching expertise includes communications, teamwork/collaboration, leadership, soft skills, life skills, and career management.

    More than 25 years of progressive experience in strategic and applied communications, career services management, and corporate training at McGill University, backed by a BA in Communications and a Certificate in Public Affairs from Concordia University, and a Graduate Certificate in Leadership from McGill University, complemented by lifelong learning in a broad range of disciplines.

    Recipient of the McGill Principal’s Award for team communication achievements at the Montreal Neuro, multiple Toastmasters International championships at the Club, Area, and Division levels, and numerous award nominations and recognitions.
